The festival of Diwali is one of the major festival in India.

The festival of Diwali is celebrated with great pomp and so in India and also in many other countries.

Diwali is also called the festival of light.

It is is celebrated with great joy and gaiety in India.

Diwali is celebrated on the the new moon day of Kartik month.

It is said that on this day Purushottam lord Shri Ram ji return to Ayodhya after defeating Ravan and completing his 14 years axle with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman.

The joy of the arrival of lord Rama was celebrated by lighting eartharn lamps of pure ghee by all the people of Ayodhya.

Since then this day is celebrated as a pasta we’ll of Diwali every year.

Children old and big everyone celebrate this festival very well with great enthusiasm.

Even in school college and office Diwali is celebrated with great pomp and show.

On these day people greet each other saying Happy Diwali and give sweets as a gift.

 

The festival of Diwali is celebrated every year in either October or November.

A few days before Diwali people start preparing to celebrate it.

On the day of Diwali people decorate their shops their homes schools office etc with lamps and lights.

Everybody buys and where new clothes houses and shops are also thoroughly cleaned for Diwali.

The entire house is decorated with colourful lights lamps candle etc goddess Lakshmi and lord Shri Ganesh are worshipped on the night of Diwali.

After the pooja all people give offering sweets gift etc to their neighbours and their relatives.

Other reason are given in other religions to make Diwali such as according to chain beliefs Nirvana of mahaveer Swami his 24th tirthkara is also on Diwali.

Diwali is also important for the sick as the foundation stone of the golden temple in Amritsar was 1577 on the day of Diwali.

Apart from this, on the day of Diwali in 1619 the sikth, Sikh Guru hargobind Singh was released from the jail.

On this day people also burn firecracker bombs fluffers etc.
